I didn’t have any planned use for this bowl except to use a piece of very swirly grained walnut. Since it was a 1″ board I needed to build it up and just adding another layer is the easiest way to do this. I thought I would band it at the seam but it didn’t seem to need that when I got it together. The top is a piece of Brazilian cherry that a friend gave me. It wasn’t very big but just the right size for a lid! I wish the grain had shown up in the picture — it is truly spectacular. My only regret was that the spindle wasn’t more “delicate” but to tell the truth it is not glued in yet and I may still do that if I get the urge.
